The Situation Requires Systemic Measures Print E-mail
According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan, on January 3, Minister of Agriculture and Food Battal Battalov visited the Kochubey zone of cattle breeding. In a working trip he was accompanied by the first Deputy head of the Ministry of agriculture RD Sharip Sharipov, the head of the Republican management of transhumance Nabi Abdulgamidov, Director of the Dagestan branch of the office for the restoration of the Black lands and the Kizlyar pastures Mohammed Akhberdilav, Deputy head of animal husbandry and breeding Ministry of agriculture of RD Yusuf Yusufov and others.
The delegation visited the farms of the Akushinsky, Khunzakhsky, Sergokalinsky and Kulinsky districts, where they got acquainted with the course of wintering cattle, with the state of pastures and artesian wells, studied the provision of farms with coarse feed.
Battal Battalov stated that the current situation with pastures in the northern zone of Dagestan requires the adoption of systemic measures. According to him, non-compliance with standards for grazing livestock, as well as adverse weather conditions have intensified the process of desertification.
The delegation also got acquainted with the state of about ten artesian wells. Many of them were drilled decades ago and need major reconstruction. However, as noted by Battal Battalov, individual art wells need basic care – for example, cleaning from sand.
After that, the minister got acquainted with the work on the construction of a slaughterhouse, which is being built at the expense of a grant received under the program of support for agricultural consumer cooperatives. In particular, the delegation visited the feedlots where the livestock of the new Russian meat merino is kept.
"Many farms counted on a low-snow winter and were poorly prepared for wintering, they practically did not create a stock of feed, and the foot vegetation did not have time to recover after the drought of last year. The rains that have passed in the autumn have somewhat softened the situation - pasture vegetation is regrowing. The jointly developed proposals will be submitted to the Government of Dagestan for further measures," the minister said.
