Dairy Goat breeding
    According to the Dagestan Research Institute of agriculture, for the development of goat breeding in the Republic on the territory of the farm "Azamat" it is planned to implement an innovative project on establishment of livestock breeding farm for about two thousand heads of dairy goats. 
    Currently, the "Azamat" is the largest farm for breeding dairy goats in the North Caucasus, which contains 770 goats. 
The main goal of the project is the creation of a modern high-tech goat farms for the production and sale of milk, dairy products (cheese, yoghurt etc.) and meat to provide children's and medical institutions, small and large supermarkets, restaurants of the Republic and other cities. 
    The head of the farm "Azamat" Magomed Alibulatov said: "We have reconstructed a site for a farm, signed an agreement for the supply of goats. The Committee on forestry of the Republic allocated three hundred acres of land for the farm. The city authorities also promised to provide land for the forage base". He also said that it has already been invested more than 18 million rubles. In the project of the future farm, the principles of keeping goats considering external conditions and financial possibilities had been developed.  As for technical support, the farm will be equipped with a milking machine of Italian production. In addition, a set of machinery and equipment of Russian production willbe acquired: bunker feeders, automatic water bowls, a feeder, a loader for manure, etc.

Exhibition

  The 18th Russian Agricultural Exhibition "Golden Autumn" was held in Moscow from the 5th to 8th of October in the All-Union Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy. Under a common information stand of the National Association of sheep breeders nineteen farms from twelve regions of Russia represented their livestock of sheep and goats. 

   The attention of experts and guests was focused on the sheep created in the type of meat merino which were demonstrated by Stavropol breeding plants "Manych", "Stud farm the Second five-year plan", "Path of Lenin", “Lenin”, "Motherland" and "Russia". This direction is the future of sheep breeding.

   This year the exhibition of sheep introduced a new, previously unseen breed at the "Golden Autumn" - Nubian goats and Katum sheep. 

   The exhibition held a round table conference "The priorities of development of domestic sheep and goat breeding, production of competitive goods on domestic and foreign markets" as well as a panel discussion "The priorities of livestock development and directions of state support for the coming period". The topical industry issues were considered there, experts and scientists exchanged their opinions. The event was attended by the Head of the Cattle breeding and Stud Work Department of Ministry of agriculture Kh. A. Amerkhanov.

    The exhibition of sheep and goat breeding was also visited by the first Deputy Minister of Agriculture D. Kh. Khatuov who expressed an informal attitude to problems and desires of sheep breeders and offered to continue the conversation on the most important topics.

Session
    On the 22nd of September, during the 2nd International Investment Forum "Agroyug 2016", held in Stavropol Region, the Head of the Cattle breeding and Stud Work Department of Ministry of agriculture Kh. A. Amerkhanov held a panel session on "Poultry and cattle breeding". The participants of the session discussed the status and development of cattle breeding in the North Caucasus Federal District.
    The Head of the Department said that the North Caucasian Federal district ranks No. 6 in the production of livestock and poultry for slaughter in the Russian Federation, No. 5 - in the production of milk, No. 1 - in the production of sheep and goats for slaughter in live weight and No. 1 – in the wool production.

    The production of livestock and poultry for slaughter in live weight has increased by 32.4%, reaching 914,4 thousand tons over the five years. 
   Kharon Amerkhanov noted that in recent years, thanks to the state support, Russian regions have the opportunity to achieve significant results in agricultural production. So, for example Stavropol Region ranks No. 1 in the production of livestock and poultry for slaughter in live weight, No. 2 - in the production of milk, No. 1 – in the egg production and No. 2 - in the production of wool – the 2nd place. 
   The heads and specialists of leading enterprises and organizations of the cattle breeding sub-sector, representatives of industry unions and associations, business, as well as leading experts of industrial research institutions took part in the session.
