The Program

Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed the government to develop and approve the Federal scientific-technical program of development of agriculture for 2017-2025. This is stated in the presidential decree signed on 21 July 2016 and posted on the official portal of legal information.  The program must be developed within six months. The President also decided to develop a set of measures aimed at the creation and implementation up to 2026 of competitive domestic technologies for production of original and elite seeds of agricultural plants, stud production (material) in areas of domestic crop production and livestock breeding with high degree of dependence on foreign supplies.  The package of measures should also ensure the production of high quality fodder and additives for animals, veterinary medicines, and the production, processing and storage of agricultural products, raw materials and food.  Starting in 2018, the government will have to provide a progress report on the implementation of the program until May, 1.      Author: Agency Agrofact
